So with so many styles and looks..where do I start?
It's the question most asked by our new students when first dipping their toe into the vintage scene.
The internet is the perfect place to see the many styles that existed in the 40's and 50's. Youtube has many clips from the era. Try searching things like "Rockabilly Style" or "Vintage hair and makeup tutorial", or maybe search an era such as "1940's style" or "1950's style".
There are also many weekend and all-day events happening throughout the year, and most of these have clothing stalls from leading vintage sellers as well as authentic 'pre-loved' clothing often at bargain prices.
Weekenders such as Twinwood, Atomic and Rhythm Riot all have clothing suppliers and manufacturers present and it's a great opportunity to try on many items you may see online. These events are also great places to people watch and get a 'feel' for what's available. Not everyone dresses up at vintage events so you won't feel out of place if you don't. With so much choice available it can be little overwelming, but the golden rule is typically, if it feels good then it's perfect for you!
