Frequently asked questions
We realise your first visit to class may be a little daunting.
So here are the answers to some of the questions we get asked. Remember your instructors and Dance Buddies are there to help and make the classes fun and enjoyable.
What time should we arrive for the first lesson?
Give yourself plenty of time to find the venue and get parked.
Once you’ve booked in, you’ll be able to sit down, settle into the space, and have a look through the beginners’ pack you’ll receive on arrival.
And remember — most people in the room will be brand new to classes too, so you’re in good company. There’s absolutely no need to worry. We’ll look after you from the moment you walk through the door.
What should we wear to lessons?
It’s a great idea to wear a few layers to your first class.
You may warm up quickly simply because everything is new and exciting, so having options helps you stay comfortable.
For men: try to avoid hard, formal shoes. Trainers or soft, flexible shoes are ideal — anything that lets your feet bend easily and move with the music.
For ladies: flat pumps with a smooth underside work best, as they make spinning and turning much easier. We keep a selection of popular sizes available at class, or you can pick up a pair online if you prefer.
What happens if we can't attend a lesson?
Please don’t worry if you have to miss the odd lesson.
We always revise the previous week’s moves, and there’s a little time after class to practise. Your Dance Buddy or instructor will always be happy to help you catch up.
If you do need to miss a class, please let us know — especially if you’re a single student partnered with one of our Dance Buddies. They give their time freely to support our newcomers, so we want to make sure no one makes a wasted trip.
Just complete this quick form to let us know you can't make class as early as possible
Do we need to bring refreshments with us?
We’ll always have bottled water available at class, along with our ever‑popular bowl of sweets.
You’re more than welcome to bring your own refreshments if you prefer — whatever helps you feel comfortable and ready to enjoy your evening.
